Mobile studio Gameloft is working on a “Highly Ambitious AAA Open-World” console game

Gameloft is one of the biggest video game studios hailing from France. Founded back in 1999, the studio has made a name for itself through the release of many console-like experiences for phones. Following their recent work on the console game ‘Disney Dreamlight Valley’ however, Gameloft have now revealed that they are working on a “Highly Ambitious, Unannounced AAA Open-World” game for PC and consoles.

As reported by Gamesual, a recent job listing by Gameloft hints at the studio’s future ambitions, including the move towards more console development, with a job listing for a Senior Game Designer stating “Gameloft is seeking a Game Designer with the expertise to make key contributions to a highly ambitious unannounced open world PC / console title.”

Few details were shared, however we do know that this game will seemingly also have some form of multiplayer, as part of the listing detailed the candidate’s responsibilities which included “designing and managing various game systems, game mechanics through the full cycle of production from concept to final stage in a multiplayer open world experience.”

The final major nugget of information seems to suggest that the game might run on Epic Games’ highly-popular Unreal Engine – though perhaps only Unreal Engine 4.

It is interesting to see the trajectory that Gameloft is heading towards. From developing relatively uninspired mobile ‘knock-offs’ of popular console titles to now working on a major AAA game themselves, it will be interesting to see what Gameloft has in store.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the job listing? Are you excited to see more console Gameloft titles? What is your favourite Gameloft game? Let us know down below.
