Microsoft to follow PlayStation with limited-time game demos

For many, Xbox Game Pass is seen as being one of the best deals in gaming, offering hundreds of games for a relatively low monthly price. That being said, one area where PlayStation has managed to outdo Microsoft is with their recent offering of limited-time game trials to PS Plus members. According to insiders, Microsoft will be following suit.

As reported by known industry insider Tom Henderson (via Exputer), Microsoft is set to unveil “several big announcements” during tomorrow’s Summer Game Fest. One of these announcements is said to be a new benefit coming to Xbox Game Pass members, where they will be able to download and play a number of time-limited games – not dissimilar to PlayStation Plus’ own game trial feature.

One difference between the two however, according to Henderson, is the fact that Microsoft’s version will focus primarily on “helping independent game developers across the globe” suggesting that the titles offering timed-trials will primarily be of the indie variety.

Alongside these trials, Microsoft will reportedly be announcing an expansion to the company’s cloud gaming service, bringing it to more countries (though we do not yet know which countries). Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long to find out as according to Henderson, Microsoft is set to make the announcement tomorrow on the 9th of June, just prior to the start of the Summer Game Fest showcase.
