Microsoft Flight Simulator’s 13th World Update goes live

Ever since its initial launch back in 2020, the team at Asobo Studio have continually improved all aspects of Microsoft’s Flight Simulator, with various tech and content updates making for a much more complete and bespoke experience. MSFS’s 13th World Update has now gone live, bringing bespoke recreations of Oceania and Antartica into the game.

Making the announcement on the Xbox blog, Jorg Neumann, the Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator said: “Explore some of the most exotic regions on Earth in World Update XIII. Microsoft Flight Simulator’s World Update XIII includes Polynesia (Hawaii and Easter Island), Melanesia (Fiji, New Caledonia, New Guinea, Indonesia’s West Papua, and the Solomon Islands), the Galapagos Islands and key regions of Antarctica, notably the Antarctic Peninsula.”

While of course these locations already existed in MSFS, World Updates focus on offering a more bespoke rendering of a region based on the latest aerial photographs, satellite imagery, and digital elevation modelling data while also adding a bunch of handmade buildings.

In total, this free update brings with it 13 countries and 28 non-sovereign territories; as well as 150 new points of interest; a dozen+ handmade airports; 11 new missions including 5 discovery flights; 3 landing challenges and 3 bush trips.

Like with previous World Updates, all players will benefit from this free update, continuing to make Microsoft Flight Simulator not only one of the most impressive flight sims, but one of the most impressive models of the Earth which we can freely explore. Hopefully the team continues to keep up the good work.
