Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 5th Wave of DLC arrives next week

After going years with no updates, Nintendo began to add a whole bunch of new content to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – from additional tracks to new characters and even further gameplay customisation. Now, the console manufacturer has announced its penultimate DLC wave, bringing 8 new tracks, 3 additional characters and more.

Releasing a trailer to YouTube, Nintendo announced the content of and release date for the 5th Wave of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC, saying “Pump up those tyres, Wave 5 is almost here! Eight additional courses and three returning characters come to the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass on July 12th.”

The 8 tracks coming with this DLC wave are as follows:

  • Koopa Cape (Wii)
  • Los Angeles Laps (Tour)
  • Moonview Highway (Wii)
  • Squeaky Clean Sprint (New track)
  • Athens Dash (Tour)
  • Daisy Cruiser (Double Dash)
  • Sunset Wilds (Super Circuit)
  • Vancouver Velocity (Tour)

As mentioned, the DLC is also adding 3 more characters to the roster: Petey Piranha, Wiggler and Kamek. This follows on from the previous wave which saw its first additional character added via DLC: Birdo.

As with previous waves, Nintendo has given very little notice on its release, with the DLC set to arrive on the 12th of July – just a week away. Each new wave of DLC has been better than the last. Hopefully this continued jump in quality does not cease.
