LEGO announces a £60 Sonic the Hedgehog set

Sonic is no stranger to the world of LEGO. First found in the 2015 game LEGO Dimensions, it seems the blue blur is once again being transformed into a LEGO character as a Sonic the Hedgehog LEGO set has now been officially announced.

Originally leaked last week, LEGO and SEGA have now officially announced a Sonic the Hedgehog LEGO set. Costing £60, the 1125 piece set depicts the classic Sonic the Hedgehog Green Hill Zone, including its iconic palm trees; checkered pattern; a bridge loop; Badniks and even a “lever-activated spring for big jumps”.

When assembled, the set stands at 17cm high, 36cm wide and 6cm deep. The designer, Viv Grannell spoke on the set, saying “I’ve loved the Sonic series since I was a kid – his vibrant, colourful world is always a fantastic place to explore.”

2021 marks the 30 anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog, and so as with the many different games, products and more released over the course of the year in celebration, this LEGO set is a great way to appreciate the past 30 years of one of gaming’s most iconic faces.

The LEGO set will be available for sale starting on the 1st of January 2022 – kicking off a new year of Sonic in a fun and exciting way. Hopefully more video game-related LEGO sets are on their way.

Kitguru says: What do you think of the LEGO set? Will you be buying it? What franchise do you want to see get a LEGO collab? Let us know down below.
