JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R announced for all systems

At the most recent Sony State of Play, fans of the popular anime JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure were treated to an exciting surprise, as the much-loved PS3 exclusive ‘JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle’ is leaving the confines of the PS3 hardware and is coming to all modern systems in the form of a remaster.

Originally released back in 2013, this PS3 fighting game was lauded as a love letter to fans of the long-running franchise. Now, even more people can enjoy the game as JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R will be coming to PlayStation, Xbox, PC and even Nintendo Switch in ‘Early Fall’ 2022.

Unlike many remasters, this new version of All Star Battle comes with more changes than one might expect. The fighting mechanics have been “overhauled from the original JOJO battle system with adjustments to the fighting tempo and the addition of hit stops and jump dashes.”

Additionally, this remastered version comes with wholly redone voice acting to align with the official VA’s for the anime (up to JoJo Part 6: Stone Ocean at least). On top of this, the game’s art style has also been re-done slightly to likewise align with the anime’s official colour palette.

While it would have been nice to see a brand new JoJo game developed, the fact that All Star Battle is no longer locked to the PS3 is worth celebrating in and of itself. The other improvements are simply a nice bonus.
