Jet Set Radio-inspired Bomb Rush Cyberfunk releasing in August

Skate culture was huge back in the 90s and early 2000s, with the likes of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series expanding the phenomenon to gaming. One of the more notable franchises to spin out from this era was the inline skating; graffiti spraying and establishment-fighting Jet Set Radio. While the game unfortunately only saw one sequel released, the upcoming spiritual successor Bomb Rush Cyberfunk has now received an official release date.

First announced all the way back in July of 2020, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is set in a world where “self-styled graffiti crews equipped with personal boostpacks are battling each other for control of the streets.”

Players will be able to explore the 5 main boroughs of New Amsterdam city to hit graffiti spots and get REP using a skateboard, a BMX bike – or for those feeling nostalgic – a set of inline skates.

Featuring a dynamic military police which scales to your antics, players will need to dodge the authorities while simultaneously starting your own cypher and dance; painting graffiti; collecting beats and comboing as many tricks as you can.

To complete the callbacks to Jet Set Radio, the soundtrack to Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is being composed by none other than Hideki Naganuma himself. Two decades on from the last Jet Set Radio game, it feels good to be able to soon enter the world of Bomb Rush Cyberfunk.
