Hollow Knight: Silksong officially delayed past H1 2023

Last year during Microsoft’s E3-adjacent conference, the console manufacturer claimed that all of the games shown off would be releasing within 1 year of the event. As time has progressed, many of the titles shown off have seen delays past this 1 year mark. Unfortunately, one more game will not be making the 12 month cut-off: Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Making the announcement on Twitter, Matthew Griffin – the head of marketing and publishing for Hollow Knight: Silksong – said:

“Hey gang, just a quick update about Silksong. We had planned to release in the 1st half of 2023, but development is still continuing. We're excited by how the game is shaping up, and it's gotten quite big, so we want to take the time to make the game as good as we can. Expect more details from us once we get closer to release.”

Considering the fact that we have seen nothing from the game since its showing at Xbox’s conference last year, many had assumed that Silksong would not be releasing by June of 2023. While somewhat disappointing, it is good to get official confirmation of this fact.

Hollow Knight: Silksong was first announced all the way back in early 2019, and so it has been more than 4 years of waiting with relatively little new information on the title. Still, considering the undeniable quality of the original game, it is safe to assume that these delays will only make for a better end-product when all is said and done. We will have to wait and see.
