Hideo Kojima is one of the biggest names in the video games industry, not only thanks to his impressive repertoire of work over the past 3 decades, but also due to his tumultuous time within the industry which saw the creative clash with Konami to rather disastrous effects. Now, a documentary has been announced which will give “rare insight into Hideo Kojima’s childhood as well as his creative process from launching his own independent studio and creating DEATH STRANDING.”

Making the announcement via a press release, Kojima Productions revealed that they have been working on a documentary. Titled ‘Hideo Kojima – Connecting Worlds’ the film will first premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City, and will be followed up by an on-stage talk from the man himself.

Premiering on the 17th of June, the documentary’s synopsis is as follows: “HIDEO KOJIMA – CONNECTING WORLDS” takes you on a journey into the creative mind of the most iconic video game creator in the world. Featuring appearances from visionary artists and creators such as Guillermo del Toro, Nicholas Winding Refn, Grimes, George Miller, Norman Reedus, Woodkid, Chvrches, and many others, this visually captivating documentary gives a rare insight into Hideo Kojima’s childhood as well as his creative process from launching his own independent studio and creating DEATH STRANDING.”

Hideo Kojima has stated many times in the past that he wants to do more than just make games, and it seems this upcoming documentary represents the start of this new journey. It will be interesting to see what the documentary unveils.
