GT7 ‘Spec II’ update brings 4-player split-screen and so much more

We previously reported that Gran Turismo 7 was set to get a ‘Big’ update at some point this week. Now, Polyphony Digital has officially announced ‘GT7 Spec II’ – bringing 4-player split-screen, over half a dozen cars and much more.

Making the announcement on their blog, the team at Polyphony Digital said “Ever since its debut on March 4, 2022, Gran Turismo 7 has been on an unstoppable journey of evolution, consistently pushing the envelope when it comes to providing realistic driving experiences to enthusiast gamers. Now, get ready for what may be the most epic update of them all, when the ‘Spec II’ version (Update 1.40) comes your way on November 2, 2023.”

It was already known that the update would bring with it 7 new cars – the list of which can be found HERE – but beyond this, the update adds:

  • A new cinematic introduction
  • A new original snow track based in Canada
  • Three extra menus to the Café
  • New events, including weekly challenges
  • 50 new challenges in total
  • New Master License events
  • ‘Meeting Place’ evolved to the ‘Paddocks’
  • Four player split-screen (PS5 only)
  • Photo mode improvements
  • New scapes including Polyphony Digital offices
  • A new dashboard
  • GT Sophy integration

With each successive patch, Gran Turismo 7 has gotten better and better. Spec II represents by far the biggest update yet, and thanks to the likes of GT Sophy and split-screen this free update truly feels transformative. The full details on all changes and additions can be found HERE.
