GT Sport delisted ahead of game’s server shut down

Back in October of last year, Sony and the team at Polyphony Digital announced that 2017’s Gran Turismo Sport would be seeing its servers go offline permanently come the end of January 2024. With less than a month to go, GT sport has now unceremoniously been delisted meaning it can no longer be purchased.

As discovered by ResetEra user MBS, Gran Turismo Sport has quietly been delisted from the digital PlayStation Store, meaning unless you already own the game, you will not be able to purchase it digitally anymore.

Due to the licensing costs for vehicles included in the games, most tracing titles are eventually delisted and so to see GT Sport no longer being purchasable is an unfortunate – though not surprising – inevitability.

If you already own the game, you still have the next month to enjoy it, as “On January 31, 2024, at 06:00 UTC, the online services of the PlayStation 4-exclusive software ‘Gran Turismo Sport’ will come to an end.”

Full details on what will and won’t be available to play following the servers shutting down can be found HERE, however one question which remains unanswered has to do with the way GT Sport’s save system functions. Currently, you need an online connection in order to save your game, and so presumably the title will receive some sort of patch to allow for local saves at one point prior to the servers going offline.

While many agree that the current-gen Gran Turismo 7 is an improvement over GT Sport in most aspects, it is still disappointing to see yet another racing title going offline.
