Genshin Impact creators valued at over $23 Billion

Genshin Impact has had an interesting trajectory. Prior to launch, the free-to-play game was criticised for being an anime-themed Breath of the Wild clone, with many of its mechanics and even trailer shots showing clear inspirations. That said, in the years since its release, the game has gone on to become a global phenomenon – helping to push the valuation of studio MiHoYo to over $23 Billion.

As reported by Kotaku, the Hurun Research Institute recently released their sixth annual Global Unicorn Index, which “ranks private companies and startups founded after the year 2000 and beginning at $1 billion.”

According to the latest report, Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail creators MiHoYo have now been valued at $23 Billion. This makes the studio the most valuable private gaming-focused company in the world.

While not a direct comparison, Sony’s current market cap puts the PlayStation maker at $103.9 Billion. Of course, Sony’s figures are based on the selling and purchasing of shares on the stock market, while MiHoYo’s valuation is based on analyst estimates.

Still, there is no denying that MiHoYo/HoYoVerse have managed to exceed all expectations with their projects – Genshin and Honkai included. With the team’s next title ‘Zenless Zone Zero’ planned to arrive some time this year, things are only looking up for the Genshin creators.
