FromSoftware announces Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon

Prior to hitting it big with the Souls franchise, FromSoftware was best known for having created the Armored Core series of mech action games – having developed over a dozen titles since the first entry back in 1997. After almost a decade since the last entry, FromSoftware have now announced the return of the series with Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon.

Announced at The 2022 Game Awards (and available to Wishlist HERE), Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon will be the 16th entry in the franchise, though the first to release in over a decade – with the most recent release being 2013’s Armored Core: Verdict Day.

Planned for launch some time in 2023, Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon will have players “assemble and pilot their own mech with 3D maneuverability to move freely through three dimensional fast-paced missions. Take on difficult challenges and overwhelm your enemies with dynamic movements that make full use of ranged and melee combat. Players can enjoy a variety of actions that can only be truly realized with mechs.”

If there is one thing FromSoftware excels at it is impactful and visceral combat, and so while little was actually shown from the game, it is safe to assume that the team will be taking all their learnings from the past decade of Souls titles and putting it into Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon. Hopefully we see more soon.
