EVO 2024 confirmed as tournament goes global

The 2023 edition of the Evolution Championship Series (EVO) has come and gone, with the popular fighting game tournament amassing more interest than ever before. Unsurprisingly, the event has been announced to be returning once again in 2024. Interestingly however, EVO will not only be held once again in Las Vegas, but also in Japan and another as-of-yet unannounced location.

As reported by Gematsu, E-Sports Evolution announced that EVO would be returning once again to Las Vegas in 2024, taking place between the 26th and 28th of July – slightly earlier than this year’s Championships. Given the success of this year’s event, the announcement comes as no surprise.

That said, what is perhaps more surprising is the fact that the Japanese version of the event will indeed be returning in 2024 between the 27th and 29th of April. EVO Japan has been an on-and-off event ever since the spin-off first premiered in 2018.

Most excitingly, it was also announced that another spin-off of EVO is currently in the works and will be held in a location separate to Las Vegas and Japan. While no additional information was shared, the prospect of an EVO tournament taking place in Europe or South America is exciting indeed. We will have to wait and see, but regardless it seems as though EVO 2024 will be bigger than ever.
