Donkey Kong Country 2 and Picross comes to SNES Online

While Nintendo appeared to take a break from adding new titles to its NES and SNES Online services, the console manufacturer seems to once again be bringing new titles on a semi-regular internal. For the month of September, Donkey Kong Country 2, Super Mario Picross, and other titles are set to arrive to the subscription service.

The full list of games are:

  • Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest (SNES)
  • Mario’s Super Picross (SNES)
  • The Peace Keepers (SNES)
  • S.C.A.T.: Special Cybernetic Attack Team (NES)

The headlining title is undoubtedly Donkey Kong Country 2. Following on from the first game, “Kaptain K. Rool and his Kremlings have kidnapped Donkey Kong. Enter Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong, who are ready to brave the seas to save our hairy hero. Diddy Kong's Cartwheel can sprint him across a distance, while Dixie Kong's Helicopter Spin will let her float from high places. Play solo or with a friend in eight exciting worlds. All aboard, and let's set sail!”

All four titles will be joining the service on the 23rd of September, bringing the total number of games offered to 89. While there are still noticeable absentees such as Earthbound and the Final Fantasy titles to name a few, the list of classic NES and SNES titles available continues to grow, giving a new generation of Nintendo console owners the opportunity to see where it all began.
