Dave the Diver studio announces new game ‘Wakerunners’

Dave the Diver is a “casual, single-player adventure RPG featuring deep-sea exploration and fishing during the day and sushi restaurant management at night”. Developed by studio Mintrocket, the game received a whole host of accolades following its full release last year. With more than 3 million copies sold, the team have now announced their next game.

Releasing a trailer to YouTube, studio Mintrocket officially announced Wakerunners – “a 4v4 & 5v5 team action game set in a near-future Earth, now a relic of its past” in which players will “glide through arenas with a top-down view, employing a unique speed mechanic. Unleash swift combat in diverse landscapes for an immersive experience.”

No release date for the game was given, however the team did announce that they will be partaking in this year’s Steam Next Fest (from the 5th to the 12th of February), allowing you an opportunity to playtest the game ahead of time for free.

Dave the Diver is an excellent game with plenty of charm and personality, and so hopefully Wakerunners similarly manages to stand out from the crowd – despite its somewhat generic-looking art style.
