Black Ops Cold War’s 1st season has been delayed

Though the game launched in November, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s first season won't be beginning until this month. While we were only a few days from release, the game’s first season has now been delayed from the 10th of December to the 16th.

Making the announcement on its website, David Hodgson of Activision revealed that “The release date of Season One across the new Black Ops Cold War and free-to-play, free-for-everyone Warzone has been moved from December 10 to December 16.”

Announced as the “largest free content drop in Black Ops history,” season One will arrive with “a massive expansion of free content, including the comprehensive integration of Operators, weapons, player progression, and Battle Pass rewards across Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.”

On the Warzone front, 30 new weapons from Black Ops Cold War will be added, alongside “a new Gulag experience”. For Cold War, the game will receive “new Multiplayer maps, new and fan-favorite 6v6 modes and playlists, the return of 2v2 Gunfight with four new maps, and a massive new Fireteam map.”

The game will also be adding new weapons, new Zombies modes, season challenges, and a new prestige system. All this will go live on the 16th of December. Though no specific reason was given for the delay, it is possible that the move was made in order to get out of the way of Cyberpunk 2077’s launch on the 10th of December. Either way, Season One is right around the corner.
