Atomic Heart officially goes gold

Atomic Heart has intrigued players for years, ever since the alternate-history action-adventure FPS RPG was first announced all the way back in 2018. Since then, news on the game has been rather sporadic, though late last year it was announced that the game is coming in February. Nearly one month ahead of its launch, Atomic Heart has gone Gold.

Making the announcement on Twitter, Atomic Heart development studio ‘Mundfish’ said “We want to bring you incredible news that Atomic Heart has gone GOLD. Thanks to our partners and everyone who is involved in this exciting project! And, first of all, thank you all for staying with us and supporting Atomic Heart. Can't wait to see you playing 21 Feb!”

‘Going Gold’ means that the Atomic Heart Gold Master disc has been submitted to the game’s publisher Focus Entertainment. Following the submission of the gold master, discs can be pressed with finalised software and digital storefronts can upload the ‘final’ version of the game ready for release. It’s a process that every game in development goes through, and means that (aside from post-launch patches) Atomic Heart is complete and ready to play.

Of course, as we have witnessed with many games in the past, going gold with plenty of time to spare does not necessarily mean the title will be bug free when it finally launches. That being said, it is still a good indication that things are going relatively smoothly ahead of Atomic Heart’s launch on the 21st of February.
