Astro Bot Director details upcoming free DLC

Astro Bot is a clear hit, with the 3D platformer from Team Asobi receiving universal acclaim from critics and players alike. While the team previously confirmed that the game will get some form of free DLC post-launch, Astro Bot’s director has now shared additional details on what to expect.

Previously, prior to the game’s launch, Team Asobi’s studio head Nicolas Doucet revealed in an interview that Astro Bot would be getting free DLC “soon” after launch, and is “based around adding more challenge levels to the game” – though there would be more to it than just that.

In a new interview conducted by Quest Daily following the game’s successful launch, Doucet spoke more freely on their plans for this upcoming DLC, saying:

“Yes, so we have free [downloadable content]—so it's going to be free. It's going to come this year. It will be smaller. You know it's not going to be like, you know, a huge, huge amount, but it will be focusing on one of the features that people enjoyed in ASTRO's PLAYROOM—that was the speedruns. You know, there were some speedruns, and the levels were quite short, but it was the fact that you could replay and keep shaving time off… with some new VIP bots to rescue, so some characters we didn't include yet will appear.”

Doucet continued, “But yeah, that's going to come, and that's going to focus really on kind-of challenging levels. But if we can, we'd like to also insert something a bit toy-feeling, something that could be really like for any player. But we're not too sure about that one. But the challenging stuff is definitely coming.”

While still somewhat vague, given the quality of the base game, it’s safe to assume that anything Team Asobi has been cooking for Astro Bot is going to be excellent. Luckily, we won’t have to wait too long to find out.
