Assassin’s Creed Syndicate update to fix years long PS5 graphical issues

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate was the last game in the series designed under the more traditional stylings of Assassin’s Creed – before the franchise turned into a full-blown RPG. Unfortunately, due to backwards compatibility shenanigans, Syndicate on PS5 suffered from some major graphical glitches. Though it has taken over 2 years, a patch is finally incoming to fix this.

Making the surprise announcement on Twitter, the official Assassin’s Creed page said “We're happy to announce that Assassin's Creed Syndicate will receive an update [today], February 23, on PlayStation 4. This update will provide a fix for flickering issues when playing on PlayStation 5.”

Due to it being a quirk of PlayStation 5’s backwards compatibility, many fans expected the issues to remain indefinitely. It therefore came as a welcome surprise that Ubisoft announced this patch. While we will have to wait for the patch to go live before confirming that it does indeed fix the various issues related to backwards compatibility, if it does what it says on the tin then all is well.

Of course, while it would have been nice to see the patch come alongside a 60fps mode or other various enhancements, the update is still very much appreciated – even if it did take two whole years and then some for the problem to be resolved.
