The leaks surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware have increased exponentially over the past few weeks, with recent reports claiming that the next-gen console could be unveiled as soon as this Thursday. With the hardware almost here, leakers have begun to discuss the system’s upcoming software releases – including rumours of both Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Shadows being planned for the console.
As shared by the French publication BFMTV (and translated by ResetEra user Arubedo) “Ubisoft is currently developing ports of Assassin's Creed Mirage and Assassin's Creed Shadows on Nintendo's next console.”
According to the source, these ports are said to be “ambitious” and will “take advantage of the technical power of the console”.
That said, just as we saw with the Switch generation, the devs appear to releasing the Switch version after-the-fact, with the publication stating “While Shadows is releasing on March 20th on PS5, Xbox and PC, the Switch 2 version will not release before the end of the year to make sure a high degree of polish on the platform.”
Given the fact that Assassin’s Creed Mirage first launched for PS5 and Series X|S back in 2023, this game in particular is likely to be a launch window title for the Switch 2 – with Shadows then following later in the year.
The success of the Switch took many publishers by surprise, and so hopefully this time round they are more prepared to support Nintendo’s console sooner rather than later. We will have to wait and see.
