Armored Core 6 will not have co-op, but will feature multiplayer

Armored Core VI is the next big game to be released by FromSoftware. Set for launch some time in 2023, little is currently known about the title. That being said, the game’s director – Masaru Yamamura – has revealed some new details surrounding the game and its multiplayer component,

In an interview with IGN Japan. Masaru Yamamura, the director for the upcoming Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon was asked (as translated by ResetEra user ‘Dust’) “Will there be multiplayer elements in Armored Core VI?” to which Yamamura replied:

“Regarding multiplayer, I'm thinking mainly about battle mode. Just like the past games in the series, I think you'll be able to have fun by colliding with each other as well as showing off the unit you've built yourself.”

He continued, “On the other hand, regarding the main story mode, co-op play is not included in order to emphasize things such as dynamic action, free-running of machines, and changes occurring during missions. We are focusing on a rich experience that can only be achieved in single player.”

Previous FromSoftware games have seamlessly blended their single and multiplayer components, but over the years the developer has trended towards separating the two – with Elden Ring recently getting a PvP focused Colosseum battle arena.

With FromSoftware keeping the single and multiplayer modes separate, it will be interesting to see how each is individually pushed further as a consequence.
