April’s PS Plus Essential games feature 3 PS5 titles

Each month, those subscribed to PlayStation Plus’ Essential tier are able to get their hands on a small selection of PlayStation 4 and PS5 titles. For the month of April, regardless of whether you have a current-gen machine or not, Sony has you covered, as all the games being offered are cross-gen releases.

Making the announcement on the PlayStation Blog, Adam Michel, the Director for Content Acquisition and Operations at SIE revealed the full list of games those who are subscribed to PS Plus’ Essential tier will be able to get their hands on come the 4th of April:

  • Meet Your Maker | PS4, PS5
  • Sackboy: A Big Adventure | PS4, PS5
  • Tails of Iron | PS4, PS5

In prior months we have seen the Essential offerings include a mix of PS4 titles (playable on PS5 through backwards compatibility) as well as some cross-gen releases – with the occasional PS5 exclusive thrown into the mix. It is therefore rather exciting to see that regardless of whether you have upgraded to a PS5 or not, all of the games on offer will be playable (with PS5 owners benefiting from bespoke current-gen versions).

Meet Your Maker is a day-one PS Plus release from Behaviour Interactive – the studio behind Dead by Daylight – and is a post-apocalyptic first-person building-and-raiding game which sees you both create and try to navigate user-created mazes filled with “Twisting hallways, verticality, multiple branching corridors, and trap-filled dead ends are all great ways to confound Raiders.”

Sackboy: A Big Adventure is a first-party co-op 3D platformer which takes inspiration from the likes of Super Mario 3D World while throwing in a bunch of its own creative and unique ideas. Tails of Iron meanwhile is a hand-drawn RPG Adventure with “punishingly brutal combat.”

April’s PS Plus Essential titles will be available to add to your library from the 4th of April until the 1st of May.
