Among Us VR sells 1 million copies in two months

Among Us hit it BIG in 2020, with the social deduction game becoming one of the most viral titles of the year – and its popularity has not waned since. Despite being a significantly smaller market, Among Us VR has already managed to sell over 1 million copies in just two months.

Making the announcement on Steam, studio InnerSloth said “We’re beyond thrilled to announce that Among Us VR has officially reached over 1 million units sold — and less than ten weeks after launch! So many of you amazing little beans running around the Skeld II, I can’t even count to one million! What the heck?!”

That is not all however as the team released some additional and interesting stats pertaining to the VR version specifically, revealing that since its launch on the 10th of November 2022:

  • “The game has been played more than 4 million times
  • On average, 44,000 matches are held per day
  • More than 89,100,000 minutes have been dedicated to tasks, sabotages, and betrayal
  • Crewmates are joining the Skeld II from across the globe, representing 122 different countries”

Finally, the team concluded by thanking fans, saying “All of this couldn’t have been possible without all of you. And, we’re so grateful for all of the support that you’ve shown for making this game and its community the best one ever — just like the original Among Us. With an exciting horizon ahead of us, we can’t wait to see what additional impressive feats you all can achieve in 2023 and beyond. Stay suspicious!”

1 million copies sold for any VR game is an impressive achievement given the platform’s much more niche market. It is doubly impressive however when considering all this was achieved in just 10 weeks. It will be interesting to see how much more Among Us will continue to grow.
