Ambitious VR title BONELAB launches later this week

While VR as a gaming platform has yet to match the universal appeal of regular console and PC gaming, more and more impressive titles are showing us just how far the VR market has come in a relatively short time. One of the most exciting VR-exclusive titles – BONELAB – has now been announced to be coming later this week.

Studio Stress Level Zero released Boneworks back in 2019 – an experimental physics VR adventure which featured impressive physics interactions, a fun playground, and perhaps one of the most immersive VR experiences yet. The studio is now upping the ante with BONELAB, the synopsis of which reads as follows:

“Suspected of séancing with an unknown power, you are on trial. During your execution you are called to action. Escaping death you descend into an unknown underworld lab. A series of preparatory challenges await you, but for what? Will you transcend them and discover your calling?”

BONELAB looks to be taking all of the best bits from Boneworks and improving upon it, with “realistic physics systems fully improved and polished,” “visceral VR combat” as well as a full and comprehensive story campaign mode.

After much waiting, Stress Level Zero has confirmed that BONELABS is set to release for Oculus Quest 2 as well as PCVR on the 29th of September, aka this Thursday. Boneworks served as a benchmark for what can be possible in VR when it was released back in 2019. Hopefully BONELAB represents a second major step for VR as a platform. We don’t have too long to wait to find out.

KitGuru says: Are you excited for BONELAB? Do you have a VR headset? If so, which one? Let us know down below.
