Xbox Game Pass is losing some major titles this month

Yesterday, Microsoft officially announced the next batch of titles for Xbox Game Pass, all of which will land on the service before the end of the month. Unfortunately, some titles have to be cycled out due to expiring agreements. Typically, we see just a handful of titles removed each month, but there is a particularly big exodus scheduled for August.

On the 31st of August, ten titles will be leaving Xbox Game Pass, and much of the list is made up of big, recognisable games. NBA 2K22, which only just joined the service a short while ago, is now leaving the service just in time for the launch of NBA 2K23, which will not be a day-one Game Pass title.

One of 2021's biggest day-one indies for Game Pass, Twelve Minutes, is now leaving the service after a year too. Myst, one of the first Xbox Series X games to feature AMD's FSR technology, is also leaving the service, as well as Supergiant's rogue-like hit, Hades.

The full list of titles leaving Xbox Game Pass on the 31st of August includes:

  • Elite Dangerous (Cloud and Console)
  • Hades (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Myst (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • NBA 2K22 (Cloud and Console)
  • Signs of the Sojourner (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Spiritfarer (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Twelve Minutes (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Two Point Hospital (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • What Remains of Edith Finch (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • World War Z (Cloud, Console, and PC)

While there are some major titles leaving Xbox Game Pass, there are also a lot of good new games on the horizon. Titles like High On Life, Grounded, Scorn, Pentiment, A Plague Tale: Requiem and more are heading to Game Pass in the next few months. In 2023, we will get new pillar titles for the service too, including Bethesda's Starfield and Arkane's Redfall.
