Valve’s next game ‘Deadlock’ will feature massive character roster

Recent leaks have revealed Valve's next game, Deadlock, which is currently undergoing playtests ahead of an official launch later in the year. The game aims to combine elements of DOTA 2, Team Fortress 2 and Tower Defence, all wrapped up in a magic-infused 1940s art style, not too dissimilar to the cancelled game, Dota Underworlds.

Now thanks to Insider Gaming's sources, we know a bit more about the title. Several gameplay leaks have already given us an early look at graphics, mechanics and some roster characters. However, more details have now surfaced, with the game set to feature 19 playable characters to start off with.

The roster is incredibly varied, mixing robots, gargoyles, assassins, gangsters and even a dual-character called Mo & Krill, a monkey and pig duo.

Valve has not yet officially announced Deadlock but sources claim that this is now the biggest on-going project at Valve and should ship later this year. With Team Fortress 2 dwindling in popularity and lacking content updates, Deaclock could be Valve's next massive third-person shooter hit.

KitGuru Says: It is no doubt frustrating to Half-Life fans to finally see the series revived, only to see it dropped again just as quickly. Still, it is always exciting when Valve is gearing up to launch a new game, even if previous titles like Dota Underworlds and Artifact failed to attract a meaningful audience.
