Valve offers CS:GO Prime refunds after dropping support for MacOS and 32-bit Windows

Counter-Strike 2 has been out for a few weeks now but not everyone is on board with the changes. While you can no longer get to CS:GO through the Steam Store and it won't be listed directly in your Steam library, you can still play the game.

With Counter-Strike 2 installed on Steam, you can go to properties, then to the Beta section and select the legacy CS:GO option if you'd prefer to return to the old game. However, you will be limited, as Valve is ending official support for the game and with that, the official matchmaking servers will go offline. You'll have to turn to the Community Server browser to continue playing with others.

While not a great solution, it does mean customers can still access the game. If you can't play Counter-Strike 2 due to the game's revamped system requirements, calling for 64-bit Windows versions only, as well as slightly better CPUs and GPUs, then you can obtain a refund for the Prime Status upgrade if you had purchased it.

This same refund policy also applies to Mac users, as Valve has dropped MacOS support with CS2. However, the game does remain available and playable on Linux. Valve officially ends support for CS:GO on the 1st of January 2024.

KitGuru Says: CS:GO was played by millions of people, many of which do not necessarily have access to the most modern PC hardware. With that in mind, Valve is smart to offer refunds to those impacted by the changes in system requirements and supported operated systems.
