Valve is speeding up Steam Deck shipments after supply chain improvements

Valve has consistently provided updates on its production plans for the Steam Deck. This week, those sitting in the pre-order queue got some good news, with Valve confirming that  it has secured enough units to fulfil all reservations made so far.

This means if you previously has an ‘After Q3’ estimated shipping time on your reservation, you are now guaranteed to get your Steam Deck this year. All shipping estimates are now being updated with a Q3 or Q4 shipping window,

Valve was able to guarantee pre-order shipments after clearing up some lingering issues with the supply chain. One of those issues was likely a supply of SSDs, as Valve recently quietly swapped the SSD that ships in the Steam Deck to another model.

If all continues to go well, then Steam Deck supply should catch up with demand, making the device more readily available to potential new customers starting in 2023.
