Valorant is officially launching on June 2nd

After a very successful stint in closed beta, Riot's new shooter, Valorant, is ready to launch. The character-based tactical shooter will be available to everyone for free on the 2nd of June.

If you were waiting for an open beta, then you are also in luck, as Riot Games will be opening it up to all available regions starting on May 28th, which will give the development team some time to monitor the back-end and ensure everything is ready to go for launch day without major issues.

Speaking about the launch, Valorant executive producer, Anna Donlon, said that this is just the starting point of a “decades-long commitment to servicing the global VALORANT community”. That starts off with the June launch, which will see a new map, a new game mode and a new agent added to the game on day-one.

The launch does mean that beta accounts will have their progress reset to level the playing-field for those who are brand new to the game. The June 2nd release date goes for “the majority of regions worldwide”, with any remaining areas set to get access to the game this year.

KitGuru Says: The Valorant closed beta was very polished and balance tweaks have been frequent, so it is not too surprising to see the launch approaching so soon. Did any of you play Valorant during the closed beta? Will you be hopping in on launch day?
