Assassin’s Creed Origins will get 60FPS update for PS5 and Xbox Series X tomorrow

We've known for a while now that Ubisoft is planning to update Assassin's Creed Origins, bringing 60FPS support to the game and bringing all three Assassin's Creed ‘RPGs' up to the new standard frame rate for this generation. After some teasing earlier in the week, Ubisoft has now announced that the update will be available starting tomorrow.

Between 2014 and 2017, the Assassin's Creed franchise was faltering. Players had grown tired of buggy, yearly releases, so Ubisoft took this opportunity to reboot the series as a sprawling open-world RPG. This change kicked off with Assassin's Creed Origins, set in Ancient Egypt, which released on Xbox One and PS4 back in 2017. While both games did get 4K graphical updates for the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro, the game never had a 60FPS patch, nor has it received further updates for the new generation of consoles.

Ubisoft said it was ‘looking into' 60FPS support for Assassin's Creed Origins late last year, and more recently, a PSN update revealed that the 60FPS patch was on the way. Now, after teasing the update earlier this week, the publisher has announced that the update will be available starting on the 2nd of June.

Tomorrow, Assassin's Creed Origins will be updated for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, adding in 60FPS gameplay and bringing the game up to the same level of performance as Odyssey and Valhalla, both of which already run at 60FPS on the new-gen consoles.

KitGuru Says: I remember Assassin's Creed Origins and Odyssey both looking great on Xbox One X, but the 30FPS cap really hurt the game for me. It'll be interesting to revisit both games at 60FPS on the new generation consoles.
