Ubisoft reveals game line up for 2023 and early 2024

Ubisoft had a pretty quiet 2022 and so far, 2023 hasn't brought through any new game releases from the publisher. However, things should quickly begin turning around in the second half of the year, as Ubisoft claims to have a pretty packed release schedule for the next fiscal year, which ends in March 2024.

Between now and the end of March next year, Ubisoft plans to release eight games, seven of which are already announced, plus one mysterious ‘large game'. The list of games includes the likes of Assassin's Creed Mirage, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Rainbow Six Mobile, The Division Resurgence, Skull & Bones (we've heard that one before), The Crew: Motorfest, XDefiant and one unannounced game.

As we know, Ubisoft has had issues getting certain projects out the door in recent years. Skull & Bones is the most notable example, as it has been in development for an entire console generation, has had multiple announced release dates and just when we thought the end was in sight, the game was delayed once again last year. Ubisoft's various free-to-play and mobile game efforts, like The Division Resurgence and Heartland, have also taken longer to develop than anyone anticipated.

With all of that said, Ubisoft said as part of its recent earnings presentation that it is encouraged by “recent developments”, particularly for its free-to-play games like XDefiant, which had a very successful closed alpha test earlier this year.  Ultimately, Ubisoft says it is close to “delivering a breakthrough” in its free-to-play game efforts.

KitGuru Says: We have no idea what the mystery ‘large game' will be, but given the variety of games Ubisoft makes, it could quite literally be anything from an Assassin's Creed or Far Cry game, to a new IP like Immortals. It is also worth noting that Ubisoft has a history of allowing delays. With that in mind, I don't necessarily expect to see all eight of these games actually releasing by March 2024.
