There are ‘no plans’ for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom DLC, producer confirms

It has been almost four months since the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Fans of the game have been eagerly awaiting news about potential expansions or DLCs. Unfortunately, according to the game's producer, there are no plans for additional content.

Eiji Aonuma confirmed this in an interview with Famitsu, stating that “there are no plans to release additional content this time” as the team feels it has done everything it can to make Tears of the Kingdom as fun as possible. There is no denying that Tears of the Kingdom is a very content-rich game and makes a number of improvements over Breath of the Wild to enable more player creativity.

Although there won't be any DLCs for Tears of the Kingdom, Nintendo is still open to making another game in a similar style and at the very least, there will be new Zelda adventures to come in the future through new games.

At this point, we know that Nintendo is gearing up to launch its new-gen console. The new system is expected to arrive in 2024 and there will no doubt be a new Zelda game being made for that system in the years ahead.

KitGuru Says: While it is a shame to see that there will be no extra content, I still think Tears of the Kingdom is one of the most content-complete games I have ever played. I wouldn't have necessarily wanted new story missions, but perhaps a building expansion would have been good, introducing additional items that players can use to construct vehicles or other items.
