The Witcher 3 is coming to Nintendo Switch in October, new gameplay trailer released

Back in June, the most ambitious Nintendo Switch port to date was announced, bringing the complete edition of The Witcher 3 to Nintendo's hybrid console. We've seen some screenshots already but now, we have a new gameplay trailer, complete with a release date.

The Witcher 3 is set to run with a dynamic resolution, so it will be 720p at maximum and will lower depending on frame rate demands. Just like the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game, The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch also targets 30 frames per second but similarly to DOOM and Wolfenstein on Switch, we would expect that frame rate to be a bit rocky, especially in an open world game as huge as this.

As the trailer shows, The Witcher 3 Complete Edition will be coming to the Nintendo Switch on the 15th of October. The folks at Saber Interactive are handling the conversion with oversight from CD Projekt Red.

One way that The Witcher 3 will stand out from other huge ports will be in the form of a proper physical edition. While titles like DOOM, Wolfenstein II, NBA 2K and others have shipped on Switch, the physical editions have gone out on small 8GB of 16GB cartridges, requiring huge downloads before physical edition owners can start playing. The Witcher 3 will ship on a 32GB cartridge, meaning the entire game and its two expansions will be available without extra downloads.

KitGuru Says: I'm always impressed when a huge current-gen game can be brought to Switch. DOOM was very impressive, NBA 2K has been quite fun and now we get to see The Witcher 3 running on a handheld console. I'm not expecting the smoothest gameplay experience but having The Witcher 3 on a portable device should be impressive no matter what. Are any of you planning on picking this up when it comes out?
