The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake is ‘alive and well’, Saber CEO confirms

While Embracer Group's CEO did not delight in taking on questions about the Knights of the Old Republic remake, Saber Interactive seems quite happy to discuss the project. The studio recently broke off from Embracer, going independent and taking the KOTOR remake project with it.

In an interview with IGN, Saber Interactive CEO, Matthew Karch, gave a short but long-awaited update on the KOTOR Remake, which was rumoured to have been cancelled, or at the very least, been put on hold. According to Karch, this is not the case, in fact, the project is said to be “alive and well”.

“It’s clear, and it’s obvious that we’re working on the KOTOR Remake. It’s been in the press numerous times. What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we’re dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations.”

The Knights of the Old Republic Remake was first announced in 2020 as part of a PS5 showcase. The game is currently only planned for PlayStation 5 and PC, although we do not know if the game will get a simultaneous console and PC release. We've also yet to see any gameplay, so it will be a while longer before we get our hands on the game.

KitGuru Says: The KOTOR Remake will no doubt be one of Saber's most important projects now that it has moved towards independence. The original game is a life-long favourite for many Star Wars fans, so we can only hope that the Remake can do it justice.
