The Simpsons Hit & Run remaster teased by Matt Groening

The Simpsons Hit and Run was a staple of the PS2 era, selling millions of copies worldwide and still being talked about to this day. At a recent D23 panel announcing the new Simpsons movie, series creator, Matt Groening, revealed that the game is set to make a comeback.

During the panel in response to a question about Hit and Run, Groening said “I think the original game is coming back in some form”, a statement that caused immediate excitement amongst the audience, forcing the panel moderator to calm things down by saying “or not”.

There has been a huge lack of Simpsons games over the past couple of decades. The most recent game was EA's mobile title, The Simpsons Tapped Out, and the last true console game we saw from the franchise arrived on the Xbox 360 and PS3 to coincide with the last film.

Still, The Simpsons Hit and Run remains a favourite amongst fans. A remaster theoretically shouldn't take much either, as the game's art style already naturally lends itself well to higher resolutions, without needing to touch up the assets.
