The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition is heading to Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC

While The Outer Worlds does have a 60FPS mode on Xbox Series X via Microsoft's own FPS Boost feature, Obsidian never released a dedicated ‘next-gen' version of the game for Xbox Series X/S and PS5. That is finally changing with the new ‘Spacer's Choice' Edition of the game.

A couple of weeks ago, The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition was revealed by ratings boards, showing that the new version of the game would release for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 consoles, as well as PC. Now, the box art for all three new versions of the game has also leaked (via Reddit):

With this version of the game only heading to modern platforms, it is possible that Obsidian has snuck in a few additional graphical improvements. The company has not yet announced the dedicated ‘next gen' version of the game for Sony and Microsoft's latest consoles. However, the original version is playable on both systems via backwards compatibility with Xbox One and PS4.

In Xbox's case, the need for a true ‘next gen' upgrade was lessened thanks to FPS Boost, a feature that allows certain backwards compatible titles to run at twice the original frame rate on Xbox Series X. This paved the way for 60FPS gameplay on console already. Unfortunately, the PS5 does not have an equivalent feature, so even on PS5, The Outer Worlds currently runs at 30FPS.

This new edition of the game will likely also give you the base game and two story DLCs all in one package. Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.
