The mod that disables PSN in God of War: Ragnarök has been deleted

Earlier this week, a mod for God of War: Ragnarok disabled all PlayStation runtime elements for the game, allowing users to play the game without linking a Steam account to a PSN account. Now, the mod has mysteriously disappeared.

According to Nexus Mods, the mod was deleted by the author, rather than being removed via a DMCA takedown request sent through to the site. Currently, nobody knows exactly why the mod was removed. Alongside Nexus Mods, it was also listed on GitHub, where it has also been taken down.

It is unclear if the author of the mod was contacted by a Sony representative demanding a takedown before sending off an official Cease and Desist letter. While the mod didn't make any changes to game code, it did still remove Sony's PSN features, something that the company was no doubt unhappy with.

While the mod is no longer available, thousands had downloaded it via Nexus Mods and the source code was freely viewable on GitHub, so it is likely that the mod will resurface at some stage.

KitGuru Says: This is an odd turn of events given that the mod had only been available for a couple of days. However, due to the amount of press the mod received, it is hard to imagine that Sony wasn't made aware of it.
