The Last of Us Part II is apparently getting remastered

With The Last of Us: Factions going through delays and Naughty Dog's rumoured new IP still nowhere to be found, many have been wondering what the studio is up to. As it turns out, the studio may be releasing a game soon… a remaster of The Last of Us Part II.

The Last of Us Part II launched for PS4 a few years ago and was later updated to run at higher frame rates on PS5 consoles. A remaster could be on the way though, with the game's composer telling Blender that an “enhanced version” of Part 2 is being made.

Many fans criticised Naughty Dog for the release of The Last of Us Part 1, a second remaster and third release of the original PS3 game. However, the re-release did end up changing the art style of the original game to be more in line with The Last of Us Part II. The remaster also acted as the debut of The Last of Us on PC systems.

Given that The Last of Us Part II only released a few years ago and already has support for things like high-resolution displays and higher frame rates, remastering Part II may make even less sense to fans. However, this also likely means that the game will be heading to PC, which is perhaps the best thing to take away from this news.

KitGuru Says: If real, I doubt that this remaster will offer much of an upgrade for PlayStation owners who already have the game. However, if this leads to a PC release, that would be a best case scenario.
