The Game Awards 2020 nominees announced

The Game Awards are just a few weeks away, which means it is time to announce the nominees for 2020. Unsurprisingly, this year's nominee list for Game of the Year largely consists of PlayStation exclusives.

Geoff Keighley uploaded the TGA nominee announcement video last night, covering nominees across a broad range of categories from Game of the Year, all the way down to Best Community Support:

We'll just cover a couple of the major categories here, starting with Game of the Year. For 2020, the nominees are:

  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Nintendo)
  • DOOM Eternal (id Software/Bethesda)
  • Final Fantasy VII Remake (Square Enix)
  • Ghost of Tsushima (Sucker Punch/SIE)
  • Hades (Supergiant Games)
  • The Last of Us Part II (Naughty Dog/SIE)

Meanwhile, Best Game Direction nominees include:

  • Final Fantasy VII Remake (Square Enix)
  • Ghost of Tsushima (Sucker Punch/SIE)
  • Hades (Supergiant Games)
  • Half-Life: Alyx (Valve)
  • The Last of Us Part II (Naughty Dog/SIE)

The nominees for Best Multiplayer include:

  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Nintendo)
  • Among Us (InnerSloth)
  • Call of Duty: Warzone (Infinity Ward/Raven/Activision)
  • Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout (Mediatonic/Devolver)
  • Valorant (Riot Games)

There are of course many other categories, so be sure to check out The Game Awards full page. As usual, fans can vote on who/what they would like to win in each category.

KitGuru Says: If I had to guess, I imagine The Last of Us Part II will end up winning Game of the Year. What was your GOTY of 2020? Are you going to be casting votes for this year's TGAs?
