Steam reveals the top 100 games on Steam for 2022

We are closing in on the end of 2022 and in keeping with tradition, Valve has revealed the top selling games of the year on Steam. This year's top 100 has some familiar titles, with the likes of Grand Theft Auto V, Rainbow Six Siege, Dota 2 and CS:GO making the list, in addition to a number of new titles, like Dying Light 2, Elden Ring and Monster Hunter Rise.

The ‘Platinum’ tier represents the 12 highest-earning games of the year. For 2022, the list includes:

  • Dota 2
  • Monster Hunter Rise
  • Elden Ring
  • Lost Ark
  • Dying Light 2
  • Apex Legends
  • CS:GO
  • Naraka Bladepoint
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II
  • PUBG
  • Destiny 2
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel

Naraka Bladepoint has quietly become one of the most successful battle royale titles on Steam in 2022, while games like Dota 2, Apex Legends, PUBG and CS:GO maintained positions in the top 12 games on Steam for the year. Call of Duty finally returned to Steam this year and naturally, it shot straight to the top of the charts.

The Gold tier this year houses Red Dead Redemption 2, FIFA 23, Forza Horizon 5, God of War, Cyberpunk 2077, Rainbow Six Siege, Ready or Not, Dead by Daylight, Grand Theft Auto V, War Thunder, Total War Warhammer 3 and Warframe. No MMOs made it into the gold tier this year, with both The Elder Scrolls Online and Final Fantasy 14 falling out of this category and into Silver tier.

Titles like The Forest, Rust, Cult of the Lamb, Phasmophobia, Rimworld, Spider-Man Remastered, NBA 2K22, It Takes Two, Project Zomboid, Sea of Thieves, Warhammer Darktide, Hunt Showdown and Stray make the Silver tier list.

Finally in Bronze, we have some notable mentions, including Valheim, The Witcher 3, Battlefield V, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Smite, NBA 2K23, No Man's Sky, Deep Rock Galactic, Borderlands 3, Terraria, Grounded, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Persona 5 Royal, Battlefield 2042, Skyrim, Halo Infinite and more.

The Steam Top 100 is measured by gross overall revenue, so that includes initial game sales as well as microtransactions and DLC sales for all titles. The full top 100 can be found, HERE.

KitGuru Says: These lists are always interesting to see, particularly when there is a good mix of old and new titles as we see in the Steam Top 100 each year. Is there anything that made the list that surprised you? Personally, I was surprised to see Dying Light 2 in the Platinum tier and GTA V fall down to Gold.
