Starfield was the best-selling game in September, drove record Game Pass subs

While it may not be making as many headlines this month, Starfield is still very popular, ranking amongst the most-played games on Xbox and maintaining high concurrent player counts on Steam. Starfield ended up being the top-selling game in the US in September and as expected, Microsoft has now confirmed record Game Pass growth too.

As part of Microsoft's recent earnings report, CEO Satya Nadella confirmed that Starfield's launch set “a record for the most Game Pass subscriptions added on a single day ever”. For the quarter, Microsoft saw a 13 percent increase in Xbox Content and Services revenue, which includes Game Pass.

While Xbox content and Game Pass subscriptions are continuing to do well, console hardware sales did see a 7 percent dip. However, there should be a boost right around the corner as the Christmas shopping season gets underway.

Starfield launched in early September and swiftly became one of Bethesda's most successful launches, with 6 million players on launch day. The game also hit 10 million players in its first few weeks.
