STALKER 2 Patch 1.3 brings over a thousand fixes and improvements

STALKER 2 officially released in late 2024 after a number of delays. The game's development was hampered by a number of aspects, the most notable one being Russia's invasion of Ukraine, forcing the studio to move countries. The game ultimately released in a buggy state, but GSC Game World has been hard at work on patches ever since. The new Patch 1.3 update brings well over a thousand new improvements to the game.

STALKER 2 has already had a couple of monster patches since release but GSC Game World has not slowed down. Patch 1.3 brings over 1200 improvements to the title. Players should now find that the game runs smoother, combat is less janky and an overall higher level of polish across the world through fixed visual and animation bugs.

Here are the optimisation-specific fixes from the patch notes:

  • Fixed memory leaks issues when navigating inventory/looting menus (e.g. opening Player stash at Rostok)
  • For optimization purposes, the hair quality has been changed to high in the Epic preset. The Epic hair quality is still available for manual adjustment.
  • A dozen other optimization tweaks were made.
  • Almost 100 crashes and EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION errors were fixed.

The full patch notes are much, much lengthier and include various fixes made in quests, AI systems and other core areas of the game.
