Square Enix announces Left Alive, an action survival shooter for PC and PS4

The Tokyo Game Show kicked off over night and sure enough, there were plenty of reveals and announcements to be had. One of the most surprising announcements comes from Square Enix, which just announced a new IP called ‘Left Alive'. This is set to be a survival/action shooter, created by the director of From Software's Armoured Core games, with character design handled by Yoji Shinkawa, formerly of Kojima Productions.

Left Alive is currently planned to launch in 2018, though we didn't get to see much of the game in action during TGS. A short minute-long announcement trailer was posted online, showing a destroyed city and giant mechs being carried onto the scene by aircrafts.

The game will be landing on the PlayStation 4 as well as PC via Steam. Xbox fans are out of luck on this one it seems. For those unaware, Director, Toshifumi Nabeshima is heading up the project and as mentioned earlier, he previously headed the Armoured Core games for From Software. Armoured Core is a mech-based shooter series, which has spanned across console generations as far back as the original PlayStation. However, there hasn't been an entry to the series so far this generation.

As for character design, Yoji Shinkawa will taking charge. Shinkawa previously worked at Kojima Productions as the art director and character designer for Metal Gear Solid 4 and Metal Gear Solid 5.

KitGuru Says: We haven't seen enough of Left Behind yet for me to truly get excited. However, if Square Enix plans to stick to that 2018 release date, then we should see much more next year.
