Sony’s ‘pro-level’ DualSense Edge controller will cost over £200

Back in August, Sony announced the DualSense Edge – its own pro-grade controller to take on Microsoft's Xbox Elite Series gamepads. The controller and its features were shown at the time, but pricing and launch date were not announced. That changed today, and the DualSense Edge will be significantly more expensive than the Xbox Elite Series 2.

As you may expect from an “elite-level” controller, the DualSense Edge will feature customisable controls, allowing users to remap keys, deactivate buttons and even adjust the trigger's dead zones and travel distance, as well as analogue stick sensitivity and dead zones. configurations can be saved into profiles and quickly swapped between. The controller also ships with swappable analogue sticks, back paddle buttons for additional inputs, a braided USB-C cable and a carrying case.

Many criticised Microsoft for the price of the Xbox Elite controller, which launched at £120. The Elite Series 2 controller was even more expensive at launch, coming in at around £150. The DualSense Edge has both of them beat, with a launch price of $199.99 in the US, or £209.99 in the UK.

The DualSense Edge will become available starting on the 26th of January.

KitGuru Says: The standard DualSense already raised prices compared to previous-gen DualShock gamepads. The DualSense Edge really kicks things up a notch, costing over 3 times as much as the standard version.
