Sony to host PlayStation showcase ahead of Summer Game Fest in June

Last year, Sony partnered with Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest, holding a huge State of Play showcase ahead of Geoff Keighley's own show. This year, it looks like we'll be seeing the same schedule play out, with a State of Play taking place in early June.

According to games reporter Jeff Grubb, Sony is planning a PlayStation showcase to take place before Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest event. While State of Play will be separate from Keighley's own show, it should still be listed as a partnered event as part of Summer Game Fest, just as we saw last year. Other publishers, like Ubisoft, have already confirmed plans for their own streams, which will also be partnered with SGF.

At the moment, the Keighley-hosted Summer Game Fest stream is supposed to take place on the 8th of June, with new game announcements from a mix of companies around the industry.

Summer Game Fest was set to compete against E3 this year, but the ESA and ReedPop recently announced that E3 2023 has been cancelled, in part due to the number of companies pulling out to do their own events, or take part in Summer Game Fest instead.

KitGuru Says: With E3 seemingly done for good, all eyes will be on Summer Game Fest instead this year. It is a confusing set-up, as some publishers will be doing their own streams over the span of weeks, but will still be listed as partners of Summer Game Fest, while Keighley's main show will be a one-time event.
