Sega trademark confirms Yakuza Wars

Earlier this summer, the developers behind the Yakuza series confirmed plans to announce a new game at the Tokyo Game Show in September. Now thanks to a SEGA trademark filing, we know much more about this mystery game, which is set to be titled ‘Yakuza Wars'.

The trademark was filed in Japan in late July and was made public this week, as spotted by Wario64.

Some are speculating that due to the name, this could be a crossover between Yakuza/Like A Dragon and Sega's own Sakura Wars series, which combines RPG and dating sim elements, set in 20th century Japan.

RGG Studio will be participating in the Tokyo Game Show in late September. During the event, Yakuza Wars should be officially announced.

KitGuru Says: My mind immediately turned towards some kind of multiplayer spin-off, but we'll have to wait and see. The Sakura Wars crossover idea could be interesting and it wouldn't be the first time we've seen a very unexpected kind of spin-off in the Yakuza series.
