Saints Row reboot to be revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live

The Saints Row series has been on a hiatus for several years now but a new game is indeed in the works and if Geoff Keighley's teasing is anything to go by, the next Saints Row game should be announced at Gamescom next week.

While promoting Gamescom Opening Night Live, Geoff Keighley has begun teasing some of the announcements we can expect. In one particular tweet, he uses a gif of the word ‘Rebooting' written in graffiti on a wall. Sure enough, the Saints Row Twitter account joined in, replying to the tweet and essentially confirming an upcoming announcement.

The last game in the series, Saints Row 4, released way back in 2013, expanding on Saints Row 3 with more super powers to play around with in the sandbox open world. Since then, Volition Studios has been working on a reboot of the franchise, while also releasing remasters for previous games in the series.

For now, we don't know what to expect from a rebooted Saints Row, the game could go back to its grounded roots, as seen in the original game, or it could continue to implement the more whacky elements seen in Saints Row 3 and 4.

Either way, we'll know for sure on Wednesday, the 25th of August at 6:30PM BST, when Gamescom Opening Night Live kicks off.
