Rocket League is going free to play next week

Earlier this year, it was announced that Rocket League will be going free to play and re-launching on the Epic Games Store. The big change is officially kicking off on the 23rd of September, at which point, Rocket League will no longer have a price tag.

In an announcement made this afternoon, Psyonix confirmed that Rocket League will be going free to play on September 23rd at 4PM BST. The announcement also brings along a new cinematic trailer:

In an update coming to Rocket League tomorrow, all current owners of the game will receive ‘legacy' status and will receive a bundle of cosmetic items. The update also allows you to link all your gaming platforms to an Epic Games Store account for cross-progression across PC and consoles.

Finally, starting on the 23rd of September, Rocket League will have a page on the Epic Games Store, although it won't be obtainable just yet. There is a one month window to add the game to your wishlist and if you do so before the 23rd of October, you will get a $10 coupon on the Epic Games Store. Presumably, the game will be delisted from Steam and go live on the Epic Games Store after the 23rd of October.

KitGuru Says: The changes coming to Rocket League this year are massive, particularly when it comes to those who have been playing the game on Steam for years. How do you all feel about the free to play change? Will you continue playing Rocket League when it heads to the Epic Games Store?
