Respawn’s Star Wars tactics game to be officially revealed

Aside from the Star Wars Jedi games, Respawn has been hard at work on a few other Star Wars-related projects. Unfortunately, Respawn's planned Star Wars shooter, reportedly based on The Mandalorian, has been cancelled. However, the company's Star Wars strategy game is still on the way.

At Star Wars Celebration this year, Respawn Entertainment will officially announce its tactics-based Star Wars title. Described as a turn-based tactics game, fans will be hoping for something similar to XCOM meets Star Wars, but with less of the bloat that watered down similar licensed projects like Marvel's Midnight Suns.

The game is developed by Bit Reactor studios, with Respawn overseeing and supporting the project. This is interesting, as Bit Reactor studios is formed by previous XCOM and Civilization developers, two of the most beloved strategy franchises in the modern era.

Assuming all goes well, this new strategy game should be releasing for PC later this year, as well as Xbox and PlayStation consoles. With the Nintendo Switch 2 just around the corner, there is also a good chance that Nintendo sees a big boost in third-party developer support this year too.

KitGuru Says: While it is a shame that Respawn's Star Wars shooter won't see the light of day, I have a lot of hope for this Star Wars strategy game.
